Stadsschouwburg Utrecht is a leading theatre in Central Netherlands. The two auditoriums, The Douwe Egberts and the Blauwe Zaal stage more than 450 productions annually which attract over 220,000 visitors!

Douwe Egberts auditorium
The refurbished auditorium holds approximately 845 seats. A unique lift system converts the auditorium into an intimate amphitheatre that can seat approximately 600 visitors.
Blauwe Zaal auditorium
The Blauwe Zaal auditorium can seat approximately 190 visitors. Because of its small-scale it is ideal for productions of an intimate nature. The performances usually start half an hour later than those in the Douwe Egberts auditorium.

• Tickets booked by telephone must be picked up/ paid for within seven days, otherwise the booking will lapse.
Students - last minute
From half an hour before the start of a performance students can buy tickets – if still available - at € 10.00 each upon presentation of their student card, or proof of enrolment including Student/ID card. It is not possible to book these tickets in advance. One ticket per person.
Visitors under 19 years of age pay € 10.00 for most performances. This does not apply to cabarets in the Douwe Egberts auditorium and to a number of large musicals and shows. On our webpage 'Jong' you can find a list of performances specially produced for young people.
Showing your discount card
When your ticket is checked, you can be asked to show your discount card. If you are unable to show a valid card, you must exchange your ticket at the box office and pay the full price.
In Utrecht inner city traffic is restricted. Therefore, you cannot reach the Stadsschouwburg by car via the city centre. From the 'singels' (the outer ring of canals) and the access roads, follow the signs to 'Parkeren Centrum Oost'. On Sundays and public holidays parking outside the inner city is free of charge.
From Utrecht Central Train station the city bus lines 7 (direction Voordorp), 8 (direction Wilhelminapark) and 28 (direction De Uithof P+R) and various regional buses (50, 51, 52, 53, 55, 74, 77) stop near the theatre at the ‘Lucasbrug’ bus stop. For more information see: www.9292ov.nl
Stadsschouwburg Utrecht was built in 1941. It was designed by architect Willem Marinus Dudok. We are pleased to offer guided tours of an hour to those interested in its architecture and the theatre. The tour is for groups with a maximum of 20 and costs € 50,-. It is also possible to provide customized tours for school groups. Wheelchair accessible seats
The Douwe Egberts and the Blauwe Zaal auditorium have a number of wheelchair accessible seats for which you pay the price of a second-class seat.
Discount for visually impaired
Visually impaired pay the price of a second-class seat for a first-class seat.
Hearing aids available
For those with a hearing impairment, the Douwe Egberts and the Blauwe Zaal auditorium have an infrared transmission system. Prior to the start of the performance you can borrow a hearing aid at the reception desk.
Toilet for disabled
You can find a wheelchair-friendly toilet on the ground floor. All floors are accessible by elevator.
